It’s not like a mirror but it is smooth and shiny and certainly no worse than the original dull gel coat . The windows & rubbers were removed to get right into the corners. Not a bad job if I do say so myself.

I reinstalled the original skin with thickend west and and again vacuum pressure. Then re faired the cut areas and sprayed them with gel coat .

I just bought a 23′ 2002 Bluewater and it has some gelcoat damage on the area near the side/transom areas. It looks to be mostly gelcoat damage although there is some fiberglass exposed (looks worse than it really appears to be).

But the part you see is the gel coat , the thin layer of pigmented resin that provides the sheen and color. Most light scratches are in the gel coat layer, so can be sanded out and the area built back up with new gel coat .
